Umezushi has announced a complete and total rebranding of its business as it delves further into the online world. To mark this, it has opted to change its name to Dabbling Deba, which has over the past year been growing its online youtube platform, creating sushi tutorials, collaborating with friends and sharing the secrets of the restaurant industry.

This milestone is a major move for Dabbling Deba on its mission to educate, experiment and share its food findings with the rest of the world. Deba is the name given to a Japanese Chef’s Knife and so, as the name suggests, you can definitely expect more sushi and Japanese infused and inspired content with cheekiness, fun and very consumable content thrown in.

As well as this, Dabbling Deba will be taking a new route, exploring different aspects of the food industry and world. “I enjoy exploring different aspects of the internet and the culinary world. The name change is to mark a clean break from the past legacy expectation of Umezushi ,” said Terry Huang, Head Chef and founder of Dabbling Deba. “I’m hoping to produce better quality content, introduce people to more creatives all while producing something more fun and entertaining.”

This news comes in the wake of many recent initiatives and accomplishments of the company, including; amassing a following of over 1,700 subscribers to its YouTube platform, launching a patron page to allow members to support their online content and attend their exclusive Omakase evenings, and collaborating with award-winning Manchester chefs including Eddie Shepherd and Mary Ellen McTague

To celebrate this change in direction, Dabbling Deba has also announced that it will be hosting a sushi marathon on Sunday 24th July at its kitchen on Mirabel Street in the city centre from 12pm – 8pm.

This will give fans a unique opportunity to step into chef Terry’s kitchen and sample his sushi…for free! All he is asking is that you pay what you feel. If you can’t head down to the event then Dabbling Deba will be livestreaming the whole day whilst simultaneously hosting a Q&A session, giving you the unique opportunity to ask chef Terry any burning questions you may have.

You don’t need to pre-book a table for the sushi marathon either, just register for your free via the link below.
