The Portico Library welcomes guests to their new exhibition Weird As Folk, which explores folk tales, dialect, boggarts and a sense of place as part of its innovative People, Purpose and Place in Historic Books project.
The programme explores the role that folk stories play in everyday lives and Weird As Folk invites guests to the North West’s cloughs and unearthed folk treasures – from centuries-old boots found
concealed in chimneys, to witch-bottles and dastardly boggarts. The historic collection includes 100 books of English folklore, telling stories of rituals and traditions practiced across the country throughout history.
