Afflecks is transforming itself into a Halloween House of Horror for the spooky season, with a special scary experience bringing tricks and treats to the 180-year-old shopping emporium.
The Northern Quarter icon is inviting guests to join a food and drink tour of the historic building, which will include a guided ghost tour of all four floors.
Specially created themed bites and bevs from Afflecks’ food and drink traders will be available along the way.
The ghostly tour, hosted by long-standing Afflecks trader Karen from Mad For Art, will explore the heritage of the building on Church Street, which is rumoured to have seen its fair share of ghouls for nearly two centuries.
Included in the £10 ticket price is an array of Halloween special dishes, included seasonal pumpkin soup with Welsh Rarebit soldiers from Third Floor Rising, Beetlejuice ice cream from Gingers Emporium, dumplings from Desert Island Dumplings and a Halloween milkshake from Animaid Cafe.
On top of that, visitors can get involved in a spirit stones and spell-casting session with Occult, located on the ground floor.
AJ Martyn, general manager at Afflecks, said: “Spooky season is upon us here at Afflecks and the traders have really pulled out the stops to make our favourite time of year extra special.
“There have been many supernatural happenings reported by Afflecks over the years, with some dating right back to the 1800s. Halloween is the perfect time to come and learn more about one of the most haunted buildings in Manchester and refuel along the way with some eerie-sistible treats from the traders whilst you’re here. See you there!”
The Afflecks Halloween House of Horror will take place on Saturday 28 October, and Afflecks will be open from its usual time of 10:30am-6pm.
