A Food & Drink Fortnight is set to take place in Altrincham from Saturday 17th June to Saturday 1st July, with a series of special events taking place across the town centre.
Since the opening of Altrincham’s much-admired Market House in 2014, Altrincham’s reputation as a sought-after food and drink destination has gone from strength to strength, with numerous new restaurants and bars choosing to open in the town centre.
Organised by Altrincham Unlimited, a diverse range of Altrincham’s venues will be involved in the fortnight, with highlights including a Sushi Night and Korean Barbeque at Sushi/Kimchi, a Radiant Supper Club with health author Hanna Sillitoe at Eat:kaizen, a Fathers’ Day Sri Lankan Sunday lunch at House Bar & Restaurant, Experimental Gin Tasting at Riddles Emporium and Rum Flights at Drop Café Bar.
Budding chefs and bakers will also be able to show off their talents and learn new skills, with activities including Indian cookery classes at New Dilli Restaurant and a Junior Bake Off at Sugar Junction.
The fortnight will also see a ‘Tapas Trail’ running all around the town centre, with a range of cuisines to sample from Spanish to Italian to French to Lebanese. Maps to guide visitors around the trail will be available from participating bars and restaurants, as well as from town centre shops and Altrincham Library.
Jonny Hansen, owner of Oxford Road Café and Sushi/Kimchi on Ashley Road said: “We’re really excited to be hosting the opening event of the Altrincham Food & Drink fortnight with our Sushi Night and Korean Barbeque on Saturday 17th June. The Food & Drink Fortnight will be a great opportunity for Altrincham restaurants to showcase the excellent food they produce week in week out, and we hope as many people as possible will come and join us at the launch event.”
