A celebration of one of the biggest supporters of Manchester’s music scene, John Hall, is taking place across The Rose & Monkey and Band On The Wall this Saturday.

Last year, John sadly passed away from oesophageal cancer and, before his passing, had a vision to set up a foundation which provides free-to-use, clean and safe rehearsal spaces for young musicians just starting out.

He wanted to create a fully equipped space for local bands, musicians and artists, meaning that they’ll just have to bring themselves along and focus on making music, without worrying about the extensive costs that are usually associated with rehearsal spaces.

His friends and family are very close to this now becoming a reality, but will need to continue to keep raising funds to ensure that this can be a long-term fixture – hence the launch on Saturday, in which all of the money raised will go towards the foundation.

The party aims to ‘do him proud’ and raise even more money to make his dream a reality. There’ll be an incredible line-up of local music all day, as well as food from This Charming Naan.

Some of the bands performing across the two venues this weekend include Fruit Tones, Crush, The Peace Pipers, Yellow Brain, The Be Positives, The Red Stains, Maddy Storm, James Holt, B!tch Coin, Brokli, Peacock Method, Pink Familee, The Self, Drivers and Bones Shake, plus special guest performers and DJs!

A legendary figure of Manchester’s diverse and iconic music scene, John Hall was a huge supporter of local bands and musicians and was held in the hearts of so many associated with the scene.

His infectious and charismatic personality was adored and he always went out of his way to show his support for up and coming musicians. Since his death, the scene has been hugely affected, so this weekend is set to be a true celebration of his life and the impact he had on so many young creatives.

The launch all-dayer will run from 1pm – 3am and tickets are on sale now for £15.
