As I’m sure you’re well aware, at the beginning of June we’ll all be having a royal knees-up as the Queen celebrates a ridiculous 70 years on the throne.

Her Platinum Jubilee celebrations mean that we get an extra bank holiday, kicking off on Thursday 2nd, with us not being at work until the 6th!

As you’d expect, there are a lot of events going on in the city – and one of the biggest must surely be this – The Refuge is hosting their very own Jubilee Street Party right there on their terrace on Friday 3rd June.

A host of Manchester DJs and bands will be there, with a showcase of up-and-coming talent alongside established names from around Manchester playing music with a tongue-in-cheek nod to the Royal Family.

The Street Party itself promises to be massive, with everything getting a Refuge ‘twist’. Instead of soggy cucumber sandwiches, think Coronation Chicken Tacos, Pork & Kimchi Sausage Rolls and Mushroom & Truffle Vol-au-vents.

There’ll be Refuge takes on classic British cakes including a red, white and blue Battenberg, plus a cocktail menu fit for the queen, including ‘The Crown Jewel’ made with Earl Grey tea, Beefeater gin, lavender and lemon, topped with fizz.

Celebrations will start at 1pm to 10pm, with the food being served from 1.30pm – 3pm.
