On the Monday that marks a cheeky 69 days until Christmas, there’s definitely an excitable Winter chill in the air, made all the better by piling into your favourite pub and drinking only stout for the foreseeable.

This week also sees gig and WHP season in full swing, with Peggy Gou taking over Manchester’s most iconic rave den with a line-up of some of her closest friends and favourite selectors. Another music legend, Kamaal Williams is heading to New Century on Friday, exploring his back catalogue of modern jazz, juxtaposed with new-age house.

Aside from this, The Bay Horse is giving away free booze all week to celebrate its fifth birthday and there’s a 100% vegan, sustainable supperclub being hosted at the Alchemist in collaboration with Meatless Farm. The six-course meal features innovative dishes made with Meatless Farm’s plant-based meat alternatives such as the Tuna Cracker, Harissa Mince Taco, and Teriyaki Chicken

Sugar Punch Launch at Feel Good Club

Monday 17th October
Taking over Feel Good Club tonight, Art For Our Sakes has collaborated with Sugar Punch, a brand new theatre and media company launching in Manchester and Newcastle. ‘Just a Little Taste’ will feature local art, music, open mic performers, spoken word poetry and comedy, alongside a wonderful menu of drinks from the team at Feel Good Club.

The Bay Horse Tavern’s 5th Birthday Celebrations

Monday 17th – Thursday 20th October
Celebrating a whole five years of proper pints in the heart of Northern Quarter, The Bay Horse is giving away four days of freebies from the 17th – 21st October. Today, from 5pm, the pub will be giving away 50 free pints, and if you stop by on Tuesday you can grab 50 free portions of its famous chunky chips. 

More booze follows on Wednesday, as The Bay Horse will give away 50 FREE Bay Horse Spritz cocktails – made using El Bandarra Al Fresco, prosecco and soda – from 5pm, and Friday sees the generous bunch give away 50 free double gin and tonics. No need to book, just pop down and join the party!

Manchester Tech Festival

Monday 17th – Friday 21st October
Manchester Tech Festival is a week-long festival that highlights diverse talent, showcases innovative businesses and brings together the local tech ecosystem. Launched as a response to the pandemic, the festival’s mission is to establish an annual event that represents Manchester’s true tech self. It’s the first event specifically for the tech community, by the tech community and features a week-long programme of events right across the city. 

Harvey Nichols Gin Tasting with the Spirit of Manchester Distillery

Wednesday 19th October
To celebrate the launch of Harvey Nichols and The Spirit of Manchester’s exciting collaboration, experts will guide you through eight of their finest gins, rums, vodkas and vermouths, including the Harvey Nichols Manchester collaborative Gin, to understand flavour profiles and help you decide which is your favourite from the exclusive collection you would like to take home. Guests will also receive a ‘Perfect Serve’ of the exclusive gin at the end of the event.

Alchemist x Meatless Farm Supperclub

Wednesday 19th October
Celebrating The Alchemist’s impressive new low-waste cocktail menu, the bar has collaborated with Meatless Farm, Discarded, Ellers Farm Distillery, and Sipsmith for a sustainable, vegan supperclub. Ticket holders will enjoy six plates of plant-based food created alongside the expert chefs at Meatless Farm, followed by a final course of a dessert cocktail.  Each course will also be paired with a handpicked cocktail from The Alchemist’s new menu. 

Bored of Dating Apps x Sip and Paint

Thursday 20th October
Are you up for trying a new approach to dating? This Thursday, GRUB is hosting an event that takes finding love off the phone, and aims to have a subliminal focus on looking after your mental health in the hectic culture of dating. Joined by artist, Libby Ayres, she will guide you through her processes and techniques for using acrylic paints to create a beautiful canvas for you to take home.

The Beauty Social at Harvey Nichols

Discover exclusive tips and tricks from beauty experts at Harvey Nichols this Thursday as it hosts masterclasses, makeovers and beauty talks from some of the industry’s best. The Beauty Social will teach guests how to wear and perfect the latest beauty trends, alongside some very special surprises. Arch Femesis at Deaf Institute

Thursday 20th October
Electro-punk duo, Arch Femesis are inspired by the aggressiveness of British Punk and 80s Club Kids. Evoking a nostalgic nod to queer dance culture with a fresh facelift, they embark on their very first headline tour this week, stopping at The Deaf Institute on the way. The duo are definitely ones to check out live, as their chaotic performance and infectious melodies will leave you feeling breathless!

Blak Whyte Gray at HOME

Thursday 20th – Saturday 22nd October
Fierce and affecting, this galvanising hip-hop dance performance reflects themes of identity, oppression and transcendence. A personal response by dance group, Boy Blue’s founders to their experiences and observations of the world, Blak Whyte Gray is set to the resonating sounds of a multi-layered score. The powerful choreography and staging make for an image-rich production with political bite.

The Art of Banksy

Friday 21st October
The eagerly awaited Art of Banksy exhibition lands in Salford this Friday! Following a successful year-long run in London and critical acclaim around the world, the blockbuster exhibition has gathered 145 iconic pieces from private collections across the globe to create the world’s largest touring collection of authenticated and unique Banksy artworks. Kamaal Williams at New Century

Friday 21st October
A pioneer of modern day jazz, Kamaal Williams is a record producer and musician that rose to fame in 2016 as one half of jazz group Yussef Kamaal. Since, the artist has released music distinctively in his own rhythm that explores jazz, house, techno juxtaposed with elusive, spiritual sounds.

Squiggle Dee Mash Return at BeeHouse

Friday 21st October
‘Squiggle Dee Mash’ was a nomadic event running from 1998 – 2002, which took over a myriad of legendary venues across the city, including Generation X, Club Havana, UMIST Underground and K2 at Man Met Students Union. This Friday it’s coming back with a special event on Deansgate Locks with a massive line-up of nostalgic drum and bass greats, including; DJ Rap, Ragga Twins, Sappo and Mark XTC.

Gou Talk at Warehouse Project

Peggy Gou has curated her very own show as part of this year’s Warehouse Project, which will be the DJs only live performance in the UK post summer. Joined by Chaos in The CBD, Job Jobse, TSHA, Laurent Garnier, Josey Rebelle and more, the eight hour party is one of the best in this season’s calendar.  

OneDa at Canvas

Saturday 22nd October
Taking over new city centre venue, Canvas this weekend, Manchester-based multi-disciplinary artist OneDa shares her latest project Rude Girl Sound System, accompanied by the linked promos. OneDa’s Rude Girl Sound System sees OneDa teaming up with; Metrodome (Mouse Outfit), SNO (NTS), Jazzy Lioness, DJ Stylie, DJ Presh and Alkohol Republik. 

Evelyn’s New Menu

Saturday 22nd October
The Northern Quarter’s neighbourhood eatery and bar will launch an all new evening menu this weekend. Evelyn’s new produce-led offering will fuse together seasonal, locally sourced ingredients creating a selection of plates designed for sharing. Centred around the Inka Grill, the menu comprises a selection of fresh vegetables, meat and seafood with influences of asian and middle eastern flavours.
