The Old Abbey Taphouse has grown to become quite the institution over the past few years, hosting an impressive calendar of events spanning after dark club nights, spoken word performances, comedy evenings and much, much more.
And this weekend is no different, as Talking Drums take over the boozer all-day Sunday to throw a proper bank holiday bonanza with the help of Manchester-based disco duo, Acid Child.
The Drum Chums all-dayer promises 12 hours of weirdo disco, cosmic nonsense and Balearic fun at Hulme’s leading boozer. Standing atop an all star DJ line up is edit legend and disco don Eddie C who stops by to celebrate a forthcoming masterpiece on Drum Chums under his new Captain Attractive alias.
The Canadian wizard hasn’t played these parts in years but his previous Manchester sets are legendary, so he isn’t one to miss this weekend.
Approach Release blew minds and touched souls with his debut 12-inch and he to makes the line-up at Old Abbey Taphouse this Sunday – expect the unexpected from Manchester’s best kept secret…
And if that wasn’t enough to get your dopamine dancing, new signings Hypnagogia and Bobby Snacks are on hand to set the tone and boost your mood, working through ambient bathers, heavy yachters and cosmic boogie in the afternoon sun.
Genres dabbled in across the evening include disco, house and funk, with the full programme forming Eddie C, Approach Release, Hypnagogia, Bobby Snacks, Acid Child and Talking Drums.
