Hatch, Manchester’s award-winning independent food, drink and retail destination is hosting a free-to-enter fun family festival afternoon on Sunday 7th August to celebrate and raise funds for Manchester Youth Zone.

2022 is a big year for Manchester Youth Zone as it celebrates 10 years of helping to support and inspire young people in one of the city’s most deprived areas. Following the success of the 10 in 10 campaign featuring 10 portraits of young people whose lives have been enhanced by the Youth Zone across the city, Hatch’s summer festival will be a family friendly celebration all curated and produced by the young people themselves.

There will be fantastic performances from some of the Youth Zone’s young people throughout the afternoon. Alongside the singing and dancing, there will be the opportunity for festival-goers to join in with dance workshops.

As well as performances there will be a programme of festival-style fun activities from glitter face painting and circus skills workshops to a live arts and craft pop-up where young people can make their creative mark on a large canvas celebrating Manchester Youth Zone.

Hatch resident bar 12 Ten Bar will host a child-friendly ‘Mocktail Bar’ for the afternoon, creating and serving unique alcohol-free cocktails inspired by the vibrancy of Manchester Youth Zone.

Alongside all the family-friendly fun, Hatch’s usual array of fantastic, independent food and drink operators will be serving up their trademark menus of tasty street food to suit all tastes. From Cheeky Tikka Bites, Beavertown Bar and Parmogeddon to its newly launched mocktails and cocktails menu and beautiful retailers including Last Ember candle shop and Beauty 101 skincare stocking the latest in Korean and Japanese products, there’s a whole host of thriving independent businesses to support on the day.

Despite Manchester being one of the nation’s most prosperous cultural hubs, the outcomes for young people growing up in and around Harpurhey, less than three miles from the city centre, are some of the worst in the UK. Manchester Youth Zone is about levelling the playing field and giving young people in the area the inspiration and opportunity to thrive.

Andrew Cooke from Bruntwood, owners of Hatch said: “As a business, we are supporters of Manchester Youth Zone and we have been involved with the great initiatives and campaigns happening around the city to celebrate its tenth year.

“We thought Hatch was the perfect place to host a family-friendly event in the city. We hope that it will further raise awareness of this amazing charity that changes the lives of so many young people.”
