Ethiopian Airlines has launched a new direct route from Manchester to Addis Abbaba, connecting our hometown with the East African nation’s capital.
Flights begin today, Tuesday 11th December, and will operate four times per week, unlocking connections to a further 60 destinations across Africa. Up to 400,000 people are expected to benefit from the route within Manchester Airport’s catchment area. Previously these passengers would have had to endure lengthy layovers in order to reach Ethiopia.

Tickets on the new Addis Ababa route start at £499 return, with this the latest addition to Manchester’s rapidly growing non-stop long haul services. Beijing, Houston, San Francisco, Singapore, Muscat, Boston and Los Angeles have all been added in recent years, cementing the airport as the UK’s second major hub and primary departure point for 22million people, or those living in 75% of the UK’s land area.
