Incense Holder

Scalloped Incense Holder, Form, £45

For the person in your life whose home is full of beautiful, unusual objects, the place you need to pay a visit to FORM Lifestyle Store. The shop itself is beautiful, a Grade II listed building on Bradley Street in the Northern Quarter. Inside you’ll find homeware from a variety of independent makers. We’re particularly partial to this hand-carved incense holder, but the whole place is essentially Pinterest come to life. If you can’t find something worth swooning over in here, I’m afraid we can’t help you.

Lina Stores Hamper

Christmas Collection Hamper, Lina Stores, £110

One of our favourite new openings of the year, you can get a taste of Lina Stores at home. Their pistachio-hued restaurant and deli is all about simple, high-quality cooking, and the Christmas Collection Hamper delivers exactly that, in the form of premium bits and bobs, like pasta, olive oil, wine, vinegars and amaretti biscuits. Basically, everything to bring a bit of seasonal cheer to your cupboards. Trust us, those little pistachio bites are dangerously good.

Salvis Bialetti

Dolce & Gabbana X Bialetti Coffee Bundle, Salvi’s, £130

One for coffee lovers who appreciate a bit of designer bling. Salvi’s are stocking this luxurious moka and ground coffee set in collaboration with the design house synonymous with Italian luxury: Dolce & Gabbana. They say it’s: ‘inspired by the vibrant Mediterranean and crafted with precision’. We say, an eccentric treat for the coffee aficionado in your life.

Eve Bag NOTS

Eve Bag, NOTS, £120

We love these bags by NOTS, which are hand-knotted from rope. Not only are they sustainable, but they’re created by founder Emilia right in the middle of Manchester at multi-purpose creative space Altogether Otherwise. She’s recently introduced the Eve bag to the offering, which is an evening bag perfect for party season, available in silver or a khaki camouflage. Fun, functional, and properly special.

AREESHA_ZANJEER_EARRINGS_1

Zanjeer Earrings, Norah Store, £140

Ancoats’ Norah Store is the place to go if you want to seek really beautiful and unusual brands from around the world, with a focus on buying fewer but better things you’ll wear and love. Seriously, their eye for aesthetically-pleasing clothing and homeware is unmatched. If you’re pushing the boat out, this pair of handcrafted silver earrings – created by Manchester-based jeweller Areesha – are a statement gift for a fashion-forward friend.

Pherrows

Pherrows Wool Cardigan, Auteur Store, £215

Auteur Store on Chorlton’s indie-centric Beech Road is a hotspot for some of the most beautiful, high-quality menswear we’ve ever seen. With sought-after brands from Japan, Scandinavia and the United States, you can find some really special pieces. The handmade Navajo cardigan is an extremely high-quality take on the jazzy festive jumper, and is sure to be treasured for many Christmases to come.

Boli Knife

Custom knife, Boli Knife, various prices

Located inside Levenshulme Antique Village is Boli Knives, the work of bladesmith Kip Kaboli who hand makes custom knives to order, from serious-looking cleavers to Japanese-style chef knives. For any passionate cooks or kitchenware obsessives, it’s the dream gift.

Jane Blease Lamp

Handpainted wooden lamps, Jane Blease, from £225

Based in the ever-inspiring Manchester Craft & Design Centre, artist Jane Blease combines the seemingly counterintuitive elements of woodwork, painting and lighting design in these one-off pieces that make a unique gift for arty friends and loved ones. If a £200+ lamp is out of budget, she also creates artwork, brooches and bookmarks. You can have a mooch around her studio, or view her shop online.
