“It’s a prime example of how Manchester is ahead of its game when it comes to sports and innovation and I reckon anyone who fancies themselves as a fitness fanatic should put their muscle to the test and give it a go!”

Thomas was at the Etihad Stadium to celebrate the launch of the epic event, which brings the fittest of Brits together in cities across the UK to test their stamina, speed, grit and guts to the fullest. The Manchester event will be held at the world-famous stadium and iconic Sport City on 3rd November 2012.

Of the event, Thomas said; “It’s fantastic news that MHSOF is coming to Manchester for the first time later this year at our iconic Etihad Stadium and Sport City. It’s a prime example of how Manchester is ahead of its game when it comes to sports and innovation and I reckon anyone who fancies themselves as a fitness fanatic should put their muscle to the test and give it a go!”

Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest event is designed with one mission in mind; to push runners to their absolute limits. Possibly the UK’s toughest obstacle course; packing a challenging 10km route in each host city. With tough and engaging obstacle zones every kilometre, the course pits entrants’ wits against 1000s of fellow “Survival” competitors from all walks of life taking part in a race that is open to anyone and everyone.

Jim Mee, Managing Director of Rat Race Adventure Sports and the man behind the event says: “Manchester is famed for its sporting credentials and prides itself on its innovation. Survival packs lashings of both as we turn the traditional 10k on its head and delve into the best the city has to offer to create a tough, engaging and totally rewarding 10k urban assault course. We’re hoping the North West will step forward to show us what they are really made of.”
