Spring has officially landed and there’s some crazy solar eclipse happening on Friday, here’s your countdown to the weekend for all you space cadets.

1. Kaluki

3 hours of Skream on Friday night? some serious chest beating and general monkeying around will be taking place at Gorilla as Kaluki play host to one of “Clubland’s” (do people still say that) biggest names. Starting out as one of the major contributors to the dubstep scene Skream has cemented himself as a major dancefloor filler, with his sets now offering more of an eclectic selection. He pretty much plays what he wants, from house, techno, disco and dubstep type stuff, so there’s more than a good chance he’ll be dropping something you’re into. Whatever happens, he didn’t get to where he is today by being a shit DJ.

2. Hit & Run + Red Eye Hifi

Its dirty, it’s disgusting, it stinks, but we still all love Antwerp Mansion. This weekend’s Saturday night shindig is brought to you by Red Eye HiFi alongside Hit & Run, with special guest Kahn (deep medi) making the trip from Bristol for a dubstep session which promises to give the Mansion’s foundations a very worrying wobble.

3 Platoon

One of the cities longest standing drum n bass nights is back for another tear up, this time at newish night spot XOLO. Part of the Black Dog family, the Mexican themed venue specialises in tequilas, margaritas and sangria. With that in mind, this sounds like a pretty boozey affair and with guest DJs Serum and Voltage it promises to go off. I heard the guys from the Doritos advert might be going as well.

4. Apoco Sessions No10.

apoco

Manchester had some bad news this week, the announced closure of one of its most famous venues The Roadhouse. With only a couple more months left before they finally close their doors, they are set to be going out with a bang. The venue this week hosts Apoco on Friday night. Expect techno, grime and all type of bass from headliner Brunks with support from residents.

5. Drop The Mustard 6th Birthday

must

This weekend Sankeys big doo comes from Drop the Mustard. Spread across the venue are acts such as George Fitzgerald, Locked Groove and Krysko. It looks set the be a massive “proper Sankeys” style party from 10-6am, so definitely make sure you have had your Weetabix beforehand.
