After taking a month or so away from clubbing to get Christmas and post New Year penny counting out the way, we should all be fully rejuvenated and ready for some dancefloor action.

Here’s where to spend your hard earned cash this weekend.

1. GHOSTS OF GARAGE

One of Hit&Run’s sister nights makes its first outing of 2015, touching down at Joshua Brooks on Saturday to bring you the finest in Garage, Bass Music and Dubstep. Headline duties go to Garage legend Sticky who claims ownership of some of the genres most recognisable jams. The night includes the likes of Chimpo, Commodo and Rich Reason as well as whole host of top billing MCs, this one gets the Nanny Banton nod this week.

2. J Dilla Changed My Life

dilla

Its 2015 now, those old skool rappers were right, hip hop don’t stop and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. A night dedicated to the music of legend J Dilla takes place at Gorilla on Friday with a collab from DJs representing nights such as Hoya Hoya, In The Loop and Juicy to name just a few. Special appearance from Mr Thing makes this night even more of a must for any hip hop fan. All profits going to The J Dilla Foundation and LUPKUS UK.

Not the first time this night has been featured and, with this one completely sold out of advance tickets, you will have to be quick to be one of the lucky 20 people who will grab one of the remaining left for the door. Techno legend Ben Sims delivers a 3 hour set with support from residents at Joshua Brooks on Friday night, definitely worth checking out.

4. EASTERN BLOC Bar Sessions

eastern

OK, so its not strictly the weekend but you should probably know that Eastern Bloc are starting a very regular residency at The Blue Pig on 1st, 3rd & 4th Thursdays of the month. Expect, well don’t really expect anything apart from a quality eclectic mix of beats to keep your head nodding. The first event is today (5/2/2015) and it all kicks off from 8pm, after work pints?

5. bpm x bandulu

BPM make a change to their regular venue this month as they bring the noise to Kraak Gallery in the heart Northern Quarter. Another collab with Bandulu records brings dubstep duo Kahn and Neek back to Manchester for a night of filth. This one’s right close to the police station so stay out of trouble but of course have fun.
