However when I heard that Lytham was hosting a festival, I wondered how this wealthy, seaside resort - home to the golfing elite and many middle class folk would do things differently.

The line up was full of nostalgic classics. Steps, Whigfield, Vengaboys and DJ Pat Sharp owned the stage on night one. We weren't there but I bet if 'cheese' is your thing it would have been a right laugh.
The second night was for the 80’s and 90’s raver, with Pete Tong Presents Ibiza Classics with The Heritage Orchestra, Becky Hill and Sister Sledge. As we head into the weekend, Friday night with George Ezra, Emeli Sande, & Rae Morris, I heard was electric.
I can only talk for Saturday: Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Bananarama, & Soul II Soul and talk about disco dancing with an RnB edge. The stage lit up like a disco ball and Nile donned the stage in his pink suit and trademark dred’s. How old even is he? Regardless he is so fucking cool.

Not only did they perform the classics that we know and love, but he performed songs he wrote for some legends such as Diana Ross.
Never have I ever graced such a mix of people… there was Nana giving it loads, reminiscing about when she was a young girl, the group of girls aged 40 plus pissed from the gin bar and then us… a mixed group of 20-30 somethings, who historically drink in Manchester, now getting down and dirty with the middle aged of Lytham.

The blend was quite beautiful and the acts were sublime. The finale on Sunday saw Il Divo and Martine McCutcheon take to the stage but at this point I was tucked up in bed nursing a disco hangover.
I am not booking onto V festival, however I will certainly be watching out for next years line up. A great laugh, a fabulous atmosphere and a great evening for all of the family.
