It’s a known fact that most of us turn into our very own version of Fatboy Slim at the afters, begging for the aux cord to blast our new favourite self-defined banger, but Ancoats-based Make Me a DJ is offering you the chance to learn certified Warehouse Project worthy skills from industry stalwarts.
Located on Jersey Street in the city’s most popular district, Make Me a DJ is a one-on-one DJ Lessons & Music Production School giving lessons to all levels and ages, from beginners to more established professionals.
Beginning its journey back in 2008, the company is run by a cohort of DJs and musicians, all with impressive CVs spanning global shows and performances. Many of its students have gone on to have impressive careers in the music industry, from DJ’s to producers and many running successful labels and club brands.
Open Monday – Thursday 10am – 10pm & Friday – Sunday 10am – 6pm, Make Me a DJ can also be booked out for DJ practice alongside the focused sessions, offering a space to perfect your mixing and beat matching skills without annoying your neighbours.
Catering for all DJing styles and genres, Make Me a DJ offers various lessons including DJ courses, 2 hour lessons, advanced DJ courses and production lessons, alongside mixdowns, engineering and digital and vinyl masters.
The DJ crash course runs over three consecutive days from 10am to 4pm and covers everything from the basics of finding and matching beats, to tempo/pitch, effects, rekordbox, track selection and recording a set. The tutor will ensure that you’re a confident DJ by the end of the session, offering guidance along the way. This course is priced at £599.
The studio also offers individual beginner/intermediate DJ lessons that are priced at £84 for two hours, £216 for six hours or £330 for 10 hours. If you’re looking to push yourself further to a more polished ‘club style’ level, Make Me a DJ offers an advanced DJ course that takes place for six hours across one day.
Alongside this, the studio provides production lessons that are taught in either an Artnovion or Jan Morel designed studio, with each lesson lasting two hours and taught using one of the following DAWS; Ableton, Logic Pro or Cubase.
