Talk about luxurious indulgence in the most delightfully dainty forms. With two sites in the city, and a concession at Selfridges out at the Trafford Centre, Bisous Bisous has been keeping Manchester’s sweetest teeth satisfied since 2014. A decade later, extensive refurbs of both the Chorlton-cum-Hardy and city centre locations took place, ushering in a new era for the celebrated cake and patisserie business. Inspired by the great pastry emporiums of Paris, this place is all about meticulously prepared artisanal treats with a big focus on macarons and Viennoiserie. 

Even from the outside Bisous Bisous is all about mad levels of temptation. Centrally located on one of the region’s busiest high streets, Deansgate, it’s pretty hard to be a passive passerby once you spy the beautifully arranged counter. Croquant Noisette, Éclair Chocolat or Pistache, Entremet Myrtille Citron, and Fraise Chocolat Blanc give an idea as to the level of sugared and cocoa-covered baked goods in the Patisserie selection. But the list could go on and on. Passion Mangue Noix de Coco, Tarte au Citron Meringuée, and Tarte Cheesecake aux Fruits Rouges also demand attention from our taste buds. 

These items are not just wonderful tasting, they look almost too-good-to-devour. And the same can be said for the incredible celebration cakes, all made to order as part of wider catering options for weddings and other special occasions. All of which just leaves those macarons, arguably the star of this show. Pick from vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, salted caramel, lemon, raspberry, strawberry, cappuccino, cherry and mint chocolate, with boxes made of up to 10 individual morsels of pure unadulterated joy. Bisous Bisous translates from French into English as ‘kisses’, and that’s exactly what each bite and mouthful feels like. Definitely a great option if you’re looking for elegant afternoon decadence, in dessert form.
