At first glance, it looks like you’ve wandered into the wrong place. Old TVs in the window. Guitars. Jewellery. The words PAWN SHOP blazing in neon.

It isn’t.

Dusk Til Pawn is one of the Northern Quarter’s longest-running sleight-of-hand tricks – a cocktail bar disguised as a backstreet broker. Once you step inside, though, the illusion drops and the real business begins.

The interior is low-lit and intimate, with circular tables, leather seating and a free jukebox by the door. This is a bar that likes a bit of theatre. Candyfloss dissolves into cocktails. Sorbets arrive on the side. Jalapeño, sage, pea, homemade custard – the ingredients list isn’t afraid to get creative. The pun-heavy menu (Pawn Star Martini included, obviously) mixes playful presentation with genuinely well-built drinks.

If you’re feeling brave, ask for something off-menu. The bartenders are more than happy to experiment, and there are weekday deals that reward a bit of curiosity. Alongside the signature cocktails, there’s wine, beer, bubbles and a strong Bloody Mary game for those who like their drinks with a bit of bite.

Outside, the square continues to evolve. Inside, Dusk Til Pawn remains one of those slightly secret-feeling spots that makes a night out feel like you’re in on something.

Turn up with an old VCR if you want. They won’t buy it.
They will, however, make you something very good to drink.
