Kargo MKT is a large-scale food hall that’s helped turn Salford Quays into a destination in its own right. Home to around 20 independent street food traders, it’s a lively, sociable space where variety is the whole point.

The line-up spans the globe, with traders serving everything from Italian schiacciata and Korean bibimbap to Palestinian, Ethiopian and Eritrean dishes, alongside flavours from Burma, India, Mexico, Greece, Vietnam, the Caribbean and beyond. Several of the kitchens already come with awards or serious local reputations, making it easy to eat very well, whatever you’re in the mood for.

By day, Kargo MKT works as a relaxed coffee-and-laptop spot, opening from 9am. From midday onwards the kitchens fire up, and as the afternoon rolls into evening the atmosphere shifts — cocktails, craft beers and music bringing a party-ready buzz. Regular events range from DJ nights to family-friendly craft sessions, keeping the calendar varied and the crowd mixed.

One of its biggest draws is the waterfront terrace. On sunny days it has a Riviera-like feel, and after dark the reflections across the water give the whole place a glow that feels far removed from the city centre. It’s spacious, dog-friendly, and built for lingering.

Part of the wider Central Bay redevelopment, Kargo MKT has become a genuine hub for the area, pulling in creatives, families and groups of friends in equal measure.
