You don’t need to know your N-Strike from your Dart Tag, or Vortex from Rebelle, to get a lot out of a visit to NERF Action Xperience. As the name of this unique destination suggests, it’s all about NERF — the neon plastic blasters loaded with foam bullets, rockets and more, which have been keeping kids and big kids entertained since 1969. This spot is the first ever official NERF-themed attraction in the UK, and offers a variety of ways to play once you’re here. A “non-stop, heart-pounding, fun-fuelled adventure”, as the team put it themselves.

In total, there are four themed zones to go at, and these run the gamut from target-practice style setups to full on survival mode. Head to the training centre to brush up on skills in an environment inspired by classic arcades. Alternatively, go head-to-head with friends and family inside the epic Chaos City or Mission X areas, which introduce more immersive elements to pull you into the heat of battle. Beyond that, Sports at NERF Action Xperience offers a hybrid of active challenges and gun-toting competition, for those who really want to test their agility, stamina, and fitness.

Keeping it very Manchester, Britain’s leading NERF destination has also partnered with local fast food giant Archie’s. Archie’s Atomic is just as unique as the Action Xperience, and combines a 5,000 square foot roller rink, family gaming area, and, of course, classic diner serving burgers, fries, drinks and more. Bookings for larger groups, whether that’s a corporate day out or a birthday party, are well catered for, with all necessary kit provided and up to two adults admitted for free when it’s a children’s event. Don’t worry, though, you’ll still get to experience the throes of a good shoot-out in the battle zones, with 45 minutes to score as many points as possible, then a one hour wind-down in a private area.
