You can tell how proud the team behind Hive Stores are of their Altrincham operation. And so they should be considering all that has been achieved. Take a look at their website and you’ll quickly find the exact date this business opened — 11th April 2024. Taking inspiration from Parisian cafe culture, there’s also more than a subtle nod to speakeasies of days gone by. So think chic, timeless, and elegant. With a healthy dose of real sophistication thrown in for good measure.
Founded by partners Steven and Gareth, they respectively left successful careers in high-end fashion retail, visual merchandise, and the emergency services to embark on this endeavour. Trade began at nearby Altrincham Food Market, where they were open four days a week. Business grew, and grew, before they said goodbye to said epicurean pop up and launched the Beverage Bar, which ran in the courtyard here from 2021 until Hive Stores was born via crowdfunding, expanding the concept. A clear sign of how integrated they already were within the community, things have only blossomed since.
Today Hive Stores is a busy hub for all things edible and delicious. A cafe, a bar, a delicatessen and pantry shop, it’s a one-stop spot for pretty much everything handmade, artisanal, small batch and created by passional craftspeople. Come for a drink, stay for a bite, and leave with your larder stocked full of mouthwatering produce. Another sign that Altrincham is the undisputed king of indulgent bites and bottles in sprawling Greater Manchester’s southern edges, its a charming addition to the local culinary map and one we are glad to see doing so well. Whether you’re looking for beeswax candles, posh sparkling soft drinks or something stronger — cured meats, cheeses, wines — this one must be on the list if you’re in the vicinity.
