Up until very recently, I’d never had the pleasure of shovelling an arancini ball into my mouth and WHAT a delight Sicilian NQ’s are!
With Boris’ new curfews and rules, it’s time to eat out earlier – skipping the Tesco meal deal for some delicious authentic Sicilian food and supporting one of the Northern Quarter’s most loved Italian restaurants while you’re at it.
The new lunch deal gives you the chance to grab two courses and any drink of your choice for £19.95. With every dish available on the new lunch menu, this means you can see savings as much as £12.55.
In fact, you could opt for the ‘Montealbano ate your Heart‘ dish which sees special homemade pasta with sheep’s ricotta and pistachio from Bronte, usually priced at £17.50, for £19.95 and get a giant arancino AND a drink on top!!
The Arancino Spinach (£7) is by far my favourite, served with gooey cheese on a bed of sweet pepper puree.
It’s cheesy, gooey, melty and rich – plus the spinach makes you feel like you’re getting one of your five a day.
For mains, there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options including the Spicy Vegan Girasole (£15) which features pasta filled with hummus, chillies, onions and turmeric. It’s all served in a rich cherry tomato and basil sauce.
For those who fancy a meaty classic, there’s the Gnocchi Bolognese (£11.90) which is just as good as it sounds.
Served with rich melt-in-your-mouth slow-cooked beef ragu, tomato-based sauce and a good grating of parmesan cheese.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you could opt for a dessert instead of a starter. Now, there’s plenty of incredible Sicilian cakes to choose from on the counter but Sicilian NQ’s gelato will blow your mind.
It’s thick, creamy and packed full of incredibly deep flavours. You can even get it sandwiched between a warmed sweet brioche bun for the ultimate heavenly dish.
The lunch deal is available now Monday to Thursday 12-5pm.
