Residents of Sadler’s Cat since early August, Desert Island Dumplings are known for their unconventional approach to vegan food.

Now moving on from their cosy stall that was previously sitting as part of NOMA, the restaurant has confirmed that it will be launching as a pop-up inside Ancoats’ General Store from Monday 31st October.

Bringing a huge menu of trademarked dishes, diners can expect breakfast, lunch and sharing items – all 100% plant-based.

For example, if you’re popping by for a bit of breakfast, the team has created Fried Breakfast Dumplings – a take on the traditional English staple, featuring garlic mushrooms, sausage, bacon, hash browns and ‘cheezy’ beans – alongside parcels filled with Blueberry Overnight Oats.

At lunchtime, the menu changes to include a range of deep-fried dumpling options, including; Cheezburger, Salt & Pepper Chikn, Shawarma Kebab, Chikn Tikka and a special dumpling of the week option that will regularly rotate.

Known for its other unique takes on conventional classics, Desert Island Dumplings will also have a dedicated hash brown menu once it opens at the end of the month – something we’re VERY excited about!

Those hitting the pop-up will be able to choose from either Salt & Pepper Hash Browns, Hash Brown Poutine, Hash Browns with cheezy beans, or just a classic fried version. The perfect morning snack for a ghastly hangover.

Taking to Instagram, the restaurant said: “I’ve got big plans for 24/7 simpsons episodes and crispy dumplings dipped into glorious soup to help shake those winter blues!

“Way back when I had an office job in town I couldn’t get out of bed without the pull of hash browns and coffee, nao it fills me with great joy to be taking on the challenge of making your morning commute a little better.”

Following major success at GRUB, Liverpool’s Kazimier Garden and Sadler’s Cat, the restaurant’s newest residency is sure to bring it a brand-new fan base crazy about this unconvential approach to vegan dining.

Desert Island Dumplings will open the doors to its new Ancoats pop-up on Monday 31st October.
