Available Monday - Friday and on the weekends too!
The last couple of weeks I’ve been forced to subject myself to a Tesco Meal Deal every day for my lunch. It’s not very glamourous, the sandwiches have more calories in them than a Double Whopper and I get dry skin on my face from eating a Grab Bag of McCoys. The only reason I do it to myself is because it’s £3 for the lot.
But this week I’d had enough. I was sick and tired of eating a crappy sarnie at my desk whilst watching videos on YouTube – I needed to get out and have a decent lunch and not half-arse it for once. So, with news of a new Lunch Deal down at Cibo, I popped my sunglasses on (the weather has been glorious hasn’t it?!) and trekked down to Liverpool Street to check it out.
It couldn’t have been any more far removed from a crappy Meal Deal – and with 2 courses for just £12 – it wasn’t breaking the bank by any stretch of the imagination.
Available Monday – Friday between noon and 2.30pm, and even on the weekends between noon and 3pm, Cibo’s Lunch Deal gives you the choice of a considered but excellent offering of dishes; 1 course for £7 or 2 courses for £12.
You can kick things off with their lightly battered fresh Calamari, or the classic Insalata Caesar. There’s a sublime tomato Bruschetta al Pomodoro, and my choice – the Mozzarella la Fritta; a deep-fried breaded buffalo mozzarella.
For an extra £2 you can have La Burrata; easily one of the most popular dishes on any Italian menu at the moment, with the cheese served with cherry tomatoes and a homemade caramelized balsamic vinegar.
For the mains now and there’s the Risotto Fungi; wild mushroom risotto topped with parmesan, Pizza Prosciutto e Funghi; mozzarella, tomato, ham and mushroom pizza, or Ravioli Dispinaci; ravioli filled with ricotta and spinach in a butter and sage sauce.
Then there’s my choice, the Filetti di Branzino; pan-fried Anglesey farmed Sea Bass filler with parsley and lemon on a bed of spinach, or for an extra £2 you can have their Ravioli Aragosta; homemade lobster ravioli in a lobster bisque and a touch of chilli.
It was perfect for a bit of a lunch time pick me up – and the couple of glasses of red wine that I drank whilst eating certainly helped a bunch too.
Cibo also offer a great Pre-Theatre Menu, available between 5pm – 7pm everyday, where you can get 2 courses for £14.95 or 3 courses for £17.95. There’s a bigger menu for that so I’ll try that next time.
