Plans have been submitted to build a multi-cuisine food hall and shisha bar at an old car garage on Bury New Road.

The redevelopment of the former garage has been proposed by site owner Al-Mahdi Group, who have enlisted the Millson Group to design a new Food Hall in the space, one that will offer both employment opportunities to local residents and a location for start-up businesses to flourish.

Likened to Hatch on Oxford Road and Mackie Mayor in the Northern Quarter, the plans are for the 10 food stalls to be located around a 200 cover seating area, with the upper floor of the venue housing a shisha bar, seating 72 inside and 20 outside.

The site once housed a used car parts and showroom, and the plan is to change the external cladding on the existing building and add landscaping.

Quite how well a site like this would work up here is yet to be seen, with excellent car links (being right on the main road), but the nearest Metrolink stop at Queen’s Road being 30 minutes’ walk away.

The development is still in it’s very early stages, keep an eye out for developments as they come in.
