Six Greater Manchester restaurants have been added to the Michelin Guide.

Chef Shaun Moffat’s Winsome, Climat, Bangkok Diners Club at the Edinburgh Castle, Stow, Mary-Ellen McTague’s Pip at the Treehouse Hotel and Cantaloupe in Stockport were added to the list today, joining a select group of other restaurants in the city and its surroundings to make the cut.

Shaun Moffat from Winsome said: “This is a really great achievement for the team at Winsome to be recognised from the guide. We’re just really happy about it.

“The amount of restaurants in the city being added this year also showcases Manchester’s current landscape of restaurants, which is really great to be a part of.”

Ben Humphrys, who runs Bangkok Diners Club with his wife Bo, said: “I think it’s a really good time for the city, some proper cool independent places doing well. It’s nice when you know the chefs involved and everyone is rooting for each other.”

Jamie Pickles from Stow added: “It’s amazing looking back to this time last year, we’d put so much into the build, just hoping people would get what we were trying to do, and seeing where we are now feels pretty special. From the first time I saw the site, I knew it had the potential to be an incredible restaurant.

“We’ve been so lucky to have such an amazing team, people who genuinely care and take the time to get to know our guests. That’s made all the difference.

“From day one, our goal was to  to go back to the roots of cooking, bringing out food’s real, honest flavours over open fire. Seeing people come in, enjoy it, and really connect with us is what it’s all about.

“It’s a huge honour to be recognised by the Michelin Guide and to be alongside so many brilliant restaurants and teams here in Manchester. We’re so proud, and even more excited for what’s next.”

They join Erst, The Sparrows, Where The Light Gets In, The White Hart in Lydgate, Adam Reid at The French, Higher Ground, El Gato Negro, Restaurant ÖRME in Urmston, Maya, Another Hand and the Michelin-starred Skof and mana.

Sam Buckley’s Where The Light Gets In also boasts a Michelin Green Star for its efforts in sustainability.
