A luxury Italian restaurant with on-site pasta making classes and other workshops will open in the Trafford Centre this year.
Italian food and beverage provider Matterello (which means rolling pin in Italian) has agreed a 15-year deal with landlord, Peel L&P on a 2,454 sq ft unit in Trafford Palazzo, formerly Barton Square, part of TraffordCity.
The announcement of Matterello marks another milestone for Trafford Palazzo, as the space is also welcoming an Archie’s burger joint that will open in Summer.
Matterello is an independent business with a focus on fresh food and sustainability, and will bring something totally different to Trafford Centre’s dining experience.
Dishes on the menu will include traditional Bruschetta with Salsa rossa, Marinated squid, Fettuccine, pesto and gorgonzola, with a wide selection of desserts also available. Something tells me that this place is gonna do a cracking Tiramisu!
Mark Whittaker, executive director – property investment and management at property group and Trafford City owner Peel L&P, said: “We are delighted to be bringing this prestigious food and beverage offering to our customers at Trafford Palazzo.
“Providing quality F&B offerings within Trafford Palazzo has been a priority since our acquisition earlier last year. Trafford Palazzo is a great retail and leisure destination where people can come and experience shopping and have fun with the variety of leisure and event activities in a truly stunning and safe environment.”
He added: “The addition of Matterello will really complement our existing offering and we’re very much looking forward to celebrating their launch.
The fit-out for Matterello has been designed by Sheila Bird Studio, an independent design studio specialising in brand, architecture and interior design. The studio’s work is all about designing places with purpose, identity and personality, and all of this has been embodied in the design for Matterello.
There’s no concrete opening date for the venue just yet, but we’re super excited for this one and can’t wait to try our hand at rolling some ravioli after getting sloshed on Aperol Spritz.
