BAB, the rather excellent gourmet kebab joint just off Stevenson Square in the Northern Quarter, have recently introduced two new FISH KEBABS to their menu, so naturally – we walked the 1.3 minutes from the office to try them out.
Known throughout the land for their unique kebab offerings, I mean, this place once did a Venison Poutine Kebab complete with gravy and cheese fondue, BAB have pulled out all the stops with these new seafood offerings – and I must say – we were very impressed.
First up was the Tikka Masala Salmon Kebab (£14.50). The salmon has been marinated and lay on a bed of samphire and spring onion. Generously drizzled with tikka sauce, it’s then finished with the iconic kebab salad.
The Lemon & Garlic Halibut (£15) is just as impressive, with a real meaty serving of fresh halibut that’s topped with cherry tomatoes. The hints of lemon and garlic work well with the creamy saffron sauce, bringing the dish together, like an elite fish finger sarnie.
BAB have also introduced a couple of new desserts, including a Pistachio Baklava (£7) and a Wild Berry Parfait (£6.50), both of which go hand-in-hand with the dessert cocktails; Bulleit Brownie (£8.50) and a Cherry Cheesecake (£8), which includes amaretto, cherry brandy, and mascarpone cream.
All of these beauties can be enjoyed in BAB from now, and I also recommend you get yourself a couple of portions of their iconic Greek Fries, and perhaps some of their homemade hot sauces too. You can’t go wrong really.
