Apartments in High Definition, Latimer’s new development in MediaCity, have gone on sale and the first residents have been moving in already. With a shared ownership scheme on offer, the glossy new apartments are surprisingly affordable even in these current penny pinching times.

With prices starting at £57,450 (based on a 30% share of £191,500 full purchase price) for a one bedroom apartment, the dream of getting on the property ladder might not be as out of reach as you once thought.

Shared ownership mortgages mean that buyers can buy their home with a much smaller deposit and choose to increase their share of ownership over time as their circumstances allow until they eventually own their home outright.

You pay your percentage of the mortgage repayment plus rent (on the share you don’t own) and a service charge but shared ownership can mean you get more bang for your buck. A total of 100 apartments of the 280 will be available through Latimer’s shared ownership scheme.

The High Definition apartments with interiors inspired by the hit Netflix show The Queen’s Gambit have plenty of extra features to love including a 24hr concierge, audio door entry systems, and a communal garden but the bright, modern communal areas are our favourite thing about the development.

The co-workspace area equipped with hyperoptic broadband is ideal for the laptop crew enjoying the flexibility of the post-pandemic hybrid working trend – it even has ‘meeting pods’. But other areas, including a Club HD terrace lounge, provide a chance to socialise with your neighbours. There are comfy beanbags, curved retro sofas, leather reclining chairs, stools shaped like giant chess pieces and wooden tables with their own built-in wine bottle holders. There’s also a cocktail bar complete with wine fridge, as well as pool and table tennis tables.

Finally, a multi-functional private room equipped with a flatscreen TV and surround sound speakers can be reserved for larger business meetings during the day, or even social activities in the evening – movie night anyone?

Salford Quays has long been a popular place to live, work, and play. With MediaCity having established itself over the last ten years and a second £1 billion phase of its development now underway, the area looks set to increase in desirability both for businesses and residents in the next decade.

MediaCity and Salford Quays have lots for the modern culture vulture to love, including world class arts and culture institutions like The Lowry, The Imperial War Museum, and regular pop up exhibitions (recent ones include Van Gogh Alive and The Art of Banksy) as well as the old favourite Coronation Street tour. There’s also plenty of local bars and restaurants in the area (or a short hop on a tram away) including The Lowry’s Pier Eight restaurant, cocktail bar The Alchemist, cheap and cheerful Indian lunch spot Chapati Cafe, and comfort food from Nila’s Burmese. Lest we forget, there’s also a little place called Old Trafford nearby. MediaCity’s convenient tram stop provides an easy commute to the city centre and elsewhere in Greater Manchester.

About the new apartments, Paul Walker, national sales director at Latimer, said:

“It’s fantastic to reach another key moment in the life of our exciting High Definition development as we see the first residents make it their home.

“Straight away, they will be able to get the full High Definition experience, with access to the luxurious residents’ lounge and high spec co-working spaces, which will make the development feel more than just a home, but a vibrant community.”
