The unstoppable rise of Idles continues. As the punk band from Bristol work their way up the venue ladder with their biggest show yet in Manchester. Their debut album ‘Brutalism’ was released in 2017 to critical acclaim, as was their second album ‘Joy Of Resistance’ in 2018. Bovell has built an impressive repertoire over the years working with Arcade Fire, Joss Stone and Madness to name a few, sure to be a big night in Whalley Range.

Her soulful punk has earnt her collaborations with Wretch 32, Labrinth and Tom Misch to name a few. Lady Bird | 4th April | Soup Kitchen
Fresh off a tour with Slaves the boys head out on a headline tour of the UK. The Kent trio bring some fresh punk… they’re performances. The soup kitchen is the perfect venue for them, they’re getting bigger and bigger and have almost sold out the whole tour. It will be a lively one in the NQ basement be prepared to get sweaty. James Blake | 7th April | Victoria Warehouse
Producer / singer / songwriter Mercury Award Winner, James Blake became known for a unique style of blending general R&B vocals with deep base and minimal dubstep. His 4th album Assume Form follows a period of time which has seen James move to Los Angeles and become one of the most important producers in music. Working with Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Jay Z, Travis Scott & Frank Ocean. With his first album in three years gracing us this year AND featuring Travis Scott, André 3000, Rosalía, Moses Sumney and Metro Boomin, it’s sure to be a great gig, grab a ticket to see him at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse.

Devlin | 16th April | Soup Kitchen
James Devlin British rap royalty returns to Manchester playing an intimate show at The Soup Kitchen. His fourth album The Outcast dropped in the middle of last month and with it he’s taking it all back to what he does best; leaving the mainstream and going full-grime. It’s being touted as his best album to date, and this will be a special show.
Rabbithole | 18th April | White Hotel
Some more local talent, Adio Marchant previously of Kid British brings his brand new project Rabbithole back to Manchester with band members Simeon Mclean, Daniel Abram and David Walker. It comes off the 2-year anniversary of ‘Middle’ the multi-platinum selling single. The album ‘The Visionary Tape’ was released last year and promises a complete package of Visuals and animations to follow.
Circa Waves | 19th April | Victoria Warehouse
Not strangers to this town, Circa Waves return to Victoria Warehouse, they headline the Neighbourhood weekend in Albert Hall and now they are touring new Album ‘WHAT’S IT LIKE OVER THERE?’ released on 6th of April. The new record has taken inspiration from ‘Arctic Monkeys and Drake’. More uplifting than their previous albums, excited to hear the new sound.
DJ Yoda | 25th April | Gorilla
Our favourite railway arch is renowned for the quality of their DJ bookings and DJ Yoda is no exception. He’s known for his cut and paste sampling, his sets are completely unique, previously doing sets based on gaming and has even had a set comprising of viral YouTube clips. He typically sways between hip-hop, drum and bass, funk and soul and his mixing and scratching talent in unquestionable.
Cabbage | 25th & 26th April | YES / Deaf Institute
No introduction needed for finest favourites Cabbage. They’ve announced a double header following the release of their new album ‘nihilistic glamour shots’ on the 30 March. favouring the smaller venues, no one else does a party like cabbage. New music, same antics. For the gig at Deaf Institute on Thursday 24th March (the day before Good Friday, so no work in the morning) the band will be joined on the bill by local band Cabbage and Brighton’s SONS. Unfortunately, it’s sold out so get yourself on Twickets for face value resale, same goes for the YES gig.
The Specials | 28th April | Academy
British Ska-Punk legends the Special’s return in top form with third album ‘Encore’ 38 years since the last one. Their new album has recently reached the top of the official UK albums chart! The band are on the road to support their new album and in celebration of the band’s 40th anniversary. It’s going to be a huge gig for the Academy, this one sold out fast, so keep your eye peeled for face value resale.
