On Friday 2nd December Piccadilly Records will release its inaugural line-up of top records in its End of Year Booklet.
The annual release sees the team at the store use their expert ears to choose the finest releases of the year, compiling all 100 albums into a helpful handbook for readers to divulge a new musical obsession.
This year, the famous record store is hosting a party at neighbouring Night & Day Cafe that will feature, in Piccadilly Records’ own words “a killer line-up of DJs and live acts” to celebrate the launch of 2022’s eagerly awaited edition.
Last year, the final list featured Mogwai’s ‘As The Love Continues’, Jane Weaver’s ‘Flock’, ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ by Little Simz, Lonelady’s ‘Former Things’ and ‘New Long Leg’ by Dry Cleaning in the top five spots.
This was then followed by albums from Floating Points, Manchester’s own W.H.Lung, Snapped Ankles, Tony Allen and JOHN. Other artists that featured in the esteemed list include; Amyl and The Sniffers, The Black Keys and Billie Eilish.
It’s a release that music lovers across the world look forward to, not just the community here in Manchester, so the in-person event is set to be a special addition to the launch.
The full line-up of the event is yet to be announced, along with the final round-up of this year’s albums. Tickets will be available soon for just “the price of a pint” – so there’s absolutely no excuse to miss this one!
