In 2022, Julian Pizer and Max Yorke launched this tucked-away gem on Deansgate Mews, not far from their earlier venture, 3 Hands Deli. Known for crafting some of the city’s best sandwiches, they have showcased there’s more to their culinary prowess than just sourdough and charcuterie, as evidenced by this remarkable casual dining establishment, Another Hand.
The small plates menu boasts some of the city’s most creative concoctions. Imagine sugar-cured venison paired with cocoa nib, kola nut, smoked yoghurt, and blackberry, or pearl barley accompanied by cider apple, roscoff onion, and salsify. There are also refreshed takes on dishes that Pizer initially popularised at The Edinburgh Castle in Ancoats, such as the pickled ox tongue with sauce gribiche, and the exceptionally tasty hay-roasted hasselback potato served with buttermilk and black garlic.
The wine list Another Hand favours low-intervention options, and there are always one or two special cocktails available, all to be savoured while seated in the city’s most charming burnt orange booths.
