The Walled Gardens presents a truly unique dining adventure situated within a flat in Whalley Range, South Manchester. In his personal laboratory-cum-kitchen, Chef Eddie Shepherd has cultivated his distinctive style of contemporary vegetarian cuisine. The dishes, with their bright blue fluids and tubes filled with vividly coloured gels, appear as though they’ve been plucked from a futuristic film, yet they are entirely plant-derived. The regularly changing 12-course menu might feature innovative creations like vegetable charcuterie crafted with koji, scotch bonnet truffles, or refreshing pine sorbet – half the enjoyment comes from the element of surprise.
However, it’s not solely about the food. With a maximum of eight diners each evening, the environment evokes the cosy intimacy of a supper club, where guests congregate around a large table in Eddie’s living room. Plus, there’s the option to bring along your own alcoholic beverages.
The Observer Food Monthly also ranks The Walled Gardens among the top 20 restaurants in the UK.
