Chicken with Lamb Bacon and Truffled Duck Egg & Soldiers: WOOD's New 4-Course Lunch Tasting Menu

WOOD Manchester is known for its innovative approach to food and fine dining, headed up by 2015 Masterchef winner Simon Wood and Head Chef Zarka. 

The restaurant focuses on locally sourced, British produce that celebrates UK heritage through one-of-a-kind, nostalgic dishes, and has now announced a Friday lunch menu, which is a condensed version of WOOD’s famous evening Tasting Menu.

Available as a standard or vegetarian menu, the lunch deal runs from 12pm – 1.45pm every Friday and costs £40 per person or £60 if ordering with the three course wine pairing option. 

It features the usual contemporary cuisine you expect from WOOD, keeping with the playful authenticity they always deliver. 

Some of the dishes available are the Truffled Duck Egg & Soldiers with berries and basil, keta levain with wild horseradish, marigold, and dovestones spruce and The Best Bit of the Chicken with Lamb Bacon and Peas.

On the vegetarian menu, the chefs at WOOD have developed an eagerly anticipated line-up of herbivore friendly dishes using traditional veggies and unsuspecting flavours. Mirepoix, Fungi Cooked Over Fire with leek and potato and truffle toast and Brown Butter Artichoke with tonka and black apple all make the menu alongside the already vegetarian friendly Truffled Duck Egg.

To book the lunch deal, you must quote WOOD40 in the booking notes when making your reservation. It’s a great introduction to WOOD’s 7 course lunch tasting menu, which usually costs £75 per person.

Simon, in describing his Tasting Menu explained: “The finest suppliers in the country provide seasonal, high welfare, foraged exceptional produce. Which will be treated with the utmost respect.

“Salt, milk, butter, vinegars, wines, oils, herbs and spices must be of the highest quality throughout the restaurant.”

“Amazing produce treated correctly, as in the end, any dish is only as good as the products you are using.”
