Plans have been submitted to turn Ducie Street Warehouse into a huge food hall operation, comprising 10 kitchens.

Documents filed on Manchester City Council’s planning portal have come from a company named as Manchester Street Food, which appears to be a spin-off of Edinburgh Street Food, which has a food hall in the Scottish capital and has been trading since March 2023.

The plans would include a complete overhaul of the huge space, former warehouses for the railways, and since 2019 a kitchen, bar, gym and cinema, with aparthotel rooms above.

The central bar and kitchens would be removed, along with the meeting rooms and other facilities, with space for 10 kitchen units around a central, communal seating area.

There would be two new bars built, one in the centre and another towards the outdoor terrace.

The new project would employ over 100 people, serve around 600,000 per year and bring in revenue of over £10 million, according to the plans.

Nearby residents have been informed of the plans for a change of use, and if the plans are accepted, the food hall could open as soon as next year.

It would join a number of other food halls in the city, including Society, Mackie Mayor and most recently, House of Social.
